The Lumi.Media story started in 2014 when an experienced screen content executive producer – Karen Dewey – was working with a large team on location making a TV series. Karen found herself frustrated by how hard it was for the team to distribute information, collaborate efficiently, and hold the creative vision.

The team struggled to disseminate key decisions, directions, and documents, with versions changing and messages losing clarity as they passed up and down the line. She saw time, money, and resources being wasted as people were forced to work in silos, duplicating systems in each department. There had to be a better way!

Karen began to explore the options and had an idea. She teamed up with her brother Neil, a leading software architect with 30 years of experience in secure systems and data management, and Lumi.Media was born.

Lumi is a powerful hub for content production that dynamically connects teams, and synthesises, consolidates and multiplies the whole team’s efforts. By bringing everything into one central hub, Lumi enables you to build a network of information, connecting previously isolated information for greater visibility, deeper insights, better decision making, and faster feedback loops. Karen Dewey

CEO

Karen is one of Australia’s leading screen producers with experience in documentary, factual, entertainment, and reality television. She has produced, created, and supervised programs for all the Australian broadcasters – networks 9,10,7, the ABC, and SBS. Karen is a skilled and innovative “showrunner” and systems leader. She is adept at managing big teams, tight deadlines and is a specialist in casting and development.

Karen is passionate about the potential of the Lumi platform to help creative, event and screen production companies in Australia and around the world to work better together.

Neil Dewey

COO & Head of Design

Neil is an expert I.T. systems architect with over 35 years of experience. He has successfully designed and built systems in Australia, New Zealand, and the UK. In 1997 Neil founded Distillery Software where he built systems that are now in place at many of Australia’s Intelligence and Police agencies.

Neil excels in building committed, motivated, development teams and is passionate about delivering tools to make the jobs of people in creative industries easier and better.

Stuart Campbell

CTO

Stuart, a co-founder of Lumi, has over 20 years of software engineering experience covering all aspects of the solution delivery process. As key engineering talent on projects ranging from enterprise-wide secure messaging for large government clients to Bluetooth beacon-based wayfinding applications for iOS and Android.

Stuart has a depth and breadth of technology experience that enables him to deliver best-of-breed software solutions for mobile, cloud, web, and desktop.

Amelia Barry

Head of User Experience

With over a decade of television experience, Amelia has produced for every network in Australia, streaming service Netflix and led content for Uber and Uber Eats across ANZ. She brings a passion for storytelling and an eye for how digital automation can improve content creation processes. Having founded two of her own successful software businesses, she is no stranger to technology and knows what it takes to scale.

Amelia drives the Lumi user experience, bringing her deep industry knowledge to the table as she empowers our screen content, experience, and casting users to work with great clarity, efficiency and focus.
