Meet the Team – Nick Bulmer

What is your role at Lumi.Media?

I am a Front-End Developer. I focus on building the part of Lumi that you see and interact with directly.

Why did you join Lumi.Media?

I couldn’t turn down the opportunity to be part of an Australian software company building such an innovative product.

What are the main challenges you see facing content-makers?

There has never been more competition for an audience than today. Content makers of today are competing with many more mediums, many more platforms and because of streaming services, all generations of television (think of how many people you know have watched the full series of Friends more than once).

What surprises people the most when they start using Lumi?

The depth of our application.

What is your favourite part of the job?

Working with and learning from our experienced dev team.

When you aren’t working, what is one thing you love to do?

I really enjoy street photography (something I really don’t do often enough) and working on an application of my own.

What is something people would be surprised to find out about you?

I don’t think many people know I’m into photography.

What is the best career advice anyone has given you?

I have two.

  1. Following your gut can take you further than you think
  2. Continual learning is a must.
If you had a superpower what would it be and why?

I would like to not have to sleep. Any extra 8 hours would be handy.

What was your first job?

My first real job was as The State Development Coach and Program Coordinator for Canoe South Australia.
